Over the course of this summer, a dozen or two people piled into my living room every Thursday night to do church in a 'small group' setting. Our small group, #MYANCHORGROUP got hot and sweaty (literally) with uncomfortable conversations at times, but it was incredibly eye-opening for a few different reasons. Through it all, here are 6 things I learned this summer from #MYANCHORGROUP that have made a huge impact on me as a pastor.
Baptisms are a big deal in the Christian Church! Through baptisms, we get to celebrate lives that have been resurrected with hope in Jesus. People's faith gets encouraged as they watch others proclaim that Jesus is the Master and Savior of their lives. We had quite an epic service at Anchor this past Sunday night!
If we're not careful, we can easily fall into the trap of comparing ourselves to others. We all know from experience that comparison leads to some pretty messed up emotions that can lead to some messed up and skewed perceptions that can lead to some pretty messed up relationships that can lead to some pretty messed up situations...

I've had my head in the clouds for my whole life, dreaming away about different possibilities and 'what ifs'. My insanely amazing wife Kimmy is the same way, but she has a lot more follow-through determination than I've got The past year has easily been the best one of my life. Many dreams were birthed and visions caught. We've worked ourselves to the bone to make them happen. Some things were shot down and some situations have been painful as we've been growing, but it's all been worth it.
