Christmas time is here!

Isaiah 9:2
The people who walked in darkness
    have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness,
    on them has light shone.

Christmas time is here!

But, if we’re honest with ourselves, we start to realize that Christmas time is not the easiest of times. Among all the joyful, jubilant, merry celebration around us we start to feel our own inadequacies; the failed goals of the past year, all the presents we can’t afford for our families, the times we've missed the opportunity to love those in need. For some of us, it’s a time of painfully remembering the presence of a lost loved one, or a failed relationship. Either way we look at it, we start to dreadfully realize that we are just not measuring up to our perfect expectations of Christmas time.

Christmas time is here!

There is good news that’s so much better than the darkness and pain of our circumstances and perfectionism! God is Light, and in love, He chose to enter His creation in order to cast out the darkness in our hearts, drive out our fear, and bring us into a relationship with Him for eternity. Jesus has come! His perfect obedience to the Father triumphs over our failed self-perfection. His death and resurrection won Him the victory over the darkness of our hearts. His ferocious love for us makes even the best of earthly loves blush in embarrassment. Your circumstances are no match for our God!

Lord, thank you that you sent Your Son, the Light of the World, into the darkness of this world and our hearts to bring us hope, life, love, and light!

Christmas time is here!
